    Does it make me a bad Christian if I fail to grasp the relevance of the purse? I mean, the poor guy goes to prison and then becomes paralyzed… why add the gender confusion? Jack Chick must operate on some higher plane or something, because I am lost here.

    I’m to blame, as I leave out a lot of the context, of course. Here, the boy had taken off with his mother’s car and her purse — which had something like $36,000 in it (the single most ridiculous part of this tract). When his ‘friends’ decided to take the car and the money, they threw the purse at him. He got thrown in jail by those cops, but then bailed out by his mother. He proceeded to go to a bar he’d frequented as a young man, where he had his neck broken by someone he’d wronged. The “gender confusion” was a classic red herring, useful only as the reason the cops questioned him.

    By the way, this guy dies and goes to hell at the end.
